Craft a life you love in 2018
Have you ever wondered what secret successful people utilize in reaching their goals that you don’t?
Take a look at the goals below.
“Lose weight.”
“Save more, spend less.”
“Pay down debt.”
What is the one missing element they all have in common? If you guessed clarity or detail, you’d be partially right.
But the answer is actually deeper than that.
How do these goals feel? Heavy, right?
Do they inspire you? Probably not much.
They all lack soul! There’s no life in them.
And yet, this is how the majority of us craft our goals for the year.
Is it any wonder, according to one survey, that the average length of time a person can expect to stick to their goals is around three and a half weeks, or 24 days?
As a human being, every decision and action you take is based on emotion. If you’re thinking about where you want to vacation next year, you most likely first think in terms of relaxation, rejuvenation and fun. If you’re shopping for clothes, you might secretly want to have all eyes on you at the New Year’s Eve party. If you’re a guy, you might want that big screen TV because you want to experience all of the energy of the Super Bowl as if you are actually there.
I started the practice of having a theme or Word of the Year back in 2014. That year my theme was “Expansion”.
WHEW! That was a really big year. I hosted my first global speaker summit, the Conscious 6-Figure Success Summit, which more than tripled my audience and set me on the course for a global reach.
In 2016 my theme was “Prosperity”. And indeed, it was a year of great financial growth; expanding my business in more powerful and enjoyable ways, both for me and for my clients.
So as you begin to contemplate your planning for 2018, think about how you want you to feel. What’s the overriding theme you’d like your year to have? Do you want to feel more at peace? Do you want to have more fun and adventure? Do you want to feel more creative?
When you craft your goals from that place, then your goals will have more passion, and that passion will drive you to keep going, even when it feels hard.
WHY START NOW?
I know, I know. You may be thinking, “But Debra, it’s only November. It’s seems so early to be planning for 2018.”
Because this goal setting stuff – it takes time! Believe me when I say that the most successful people begin their planning wayyyy in advance of the New Year.
And, as we embark on the holiday season in just a couple of weeks, you might be just a little distracted. Just sayin’…
In my experience, you need to build in some time to dream and imagine and envision what it is that your spirit, your soul, the deepest part of you wants to bring forth through you in the coming year.
It’s not something that you just sit down and draft out, all in one day.
Starting your planning for 2018 now heightens your awareness of what you want more of in your life, and allows you to really “hear” it before the noise of the holiday season begins.
Then, you can really immerse yourself in time with family knowing that you’ve already begun to plan for 2018, in a powerful and conscious way.
This is actually the fun part! This is where you get to dream and have fun playing in the field of possibilities!
So let’s get started now and let your mind percolate it all in the background for awhile.
Then, on December 2nd you can dive deeper when I’ll be hosting my 3rd annual Conscious Plan-for-Success Virtual Retreat, an event solely dedicated to supporting you in crafting a life you love in 2018.
If that sounds like something you’d like to participate in, stay tuned. Registration will open soon and I’ll let you know how you can join me in planning your year.
