Wait, is this January or June?
How to use the New Moon in Aquarius energy
Is it just me or has this month felt more like a mid-year slump than the fresh start of a New Year?
THANKFULLY tonight’s New Moon in Aquarius brings with it a breath of fresh air; an energy of new beginnings and possibilities…FINALLY.
If your year so far has felt kind of sluggish and lacking momentum, too, then you’ve probably been feeling the cosmic energies of Mercury in Retrograde (whose desire for you is to slow down and reflect vs. build momentum) as well as Venus the Goddess of what you love and value, also in Retrograde.
It has felt VERY weird to me as January usually has an energy that feels more like a fresh start. This January, not so much. Instead, it’s felt more like a mid-year slump.
Has it felt that way to you?
The GOOD NEWS is that Venus has moved forward and Mercury will as well Thursday evening for those of us in the U.S.
AND, tomorrow begins the Chinese Lunar Year of the Water Tiger (more on that this week and in my Year of the Water Tiger Workshop on February 19th).
Just visualize a tiger and you’ll get a sense of the energy of the year to come.
Yayyyy! I think we are ALL ready for some energy and vitality. That’s not to say it’s a completely easy year, but we’ll definitely feel a shift.
You can kind of equate it to going through an illness and the sense of relief you get when you start to feel better; when you feel like you can begin to see the end of the tunnel, even if you’re not quite through it yet. You might still have some periods where you notice your energy fades, but overall, you’re on a forward healing direction.
That’s the energy of the Water Tiger – bursts of energy followed by cat naps.
Tonight’s New Moon is the perfect time to press the PAUSE button and reflect on what’s working and what isn’t.
If you gift yourself with some “space” to breathe, you might find you actually receive some bursts of inspiration, intuition and new seeds of ideas, especially with this New Moon in Aquarius.
Aquarius is an Air sign and with that comes a lot of “big picture” thinking, the desire to communicate, reinvent and process things on the mental realm – especially in the areas of your life that have to do with your community and with what is good for the collective vs. just yourself.
The Sun and Saturn are also in Aquarius – that means there’s a lot of Air in the Heavens. But we also have FOUR planets in Capricorn. That’s a lot of earth energy that will support you in creating some structure around whatever you want more of your life and do so in a real grounded, practical way.
Some of my tips for how to use this energy are:
* Take time to brainstorm what no longer fits and what you might be ready to let go of whether it’s habits, relationships, self-imposed obligations, etc.
* Be mindful of your words. This energy can be a little reactive with communication being frank and blunt and you could easily say something you don’t mean.
* Brainstorm some possible new intentions and goals but wait until after all the planets have moved direct on Friday, February 4th to set solid intentions.
* As an air sign, Aquarius loves all things mental, verbal and communicative in nature. It’s a great time to learn something new, read, journal, create and write down some affirmations that ground and center you.
Use this dark moon phase to self-nurture, rest, recharge, reflect and pay attention to your energy levels – and don’t push yourself too hard.
The New Moon is like a blank slate, and as it progresses to the Full Moon, you can use its energy to enhance any areas of your life that need more abundance – health, finances, relationships and creativity.
With good energy,
